Project outline
A new landfill site in Enniskillen which produced wastewater with a high levels of COD (up to 16,000 mg/l) and Ammoniacal nitrogen (up to 900mg/l). The wastewater had to be treated before being discharged to the sewer.
Project description:
THE PROBLEM:

An SBR design was selected by the process engineers as the optimum solution and Colloide were employed to design and build this treatment plant.

THE SOLUTION:

Colloide provided a complete SBR treatment plant including;
* Raw leachate feed pumps
* Inlet (raw) leachate storage tank
* Outlet (treated) leachate storage tank
* SBR tank including aeration system, decant system, instrumentation, etc.
* Chemical dosing systems inc. sodium hdroxide, anti foam and acid
* Secure control building
* On line sampling and measurement of flows and TOC
* Control panel
* Computerised control system with remote alarms

Some key features of the plant are;

The plant is totally automated and the operator can control and monitor all aspects of the plant from the computer.

There is duty/standby on all pumps and other key equipment.

All equipment is selected with robustness in mind to withstand the harsh environment.

The instrumentation ensures the leachate is treated effectively while minimising power consumption.

THE BENEFITS:

* Compact treatment plant.
* Plant has the ability to deal with very strong wastewater and large fluctuations.
* Plant designed for long life in harsh environment with minimal maintenance requirements.
* Effective monitoring
* Minimal operator input
* Minimal maintenance
