Colloide’s scope of works was as follows;
* 7no. side slope riser pump assemblies and control systems
* 2no. vertical pumping stations with duty standby pumps and control systems
* Leachate storage tank, pipe work and controls
* Control of pumps from existing cells
* On line surface water monitoring including pH, conductivity and TOC
* Site lighting
* Weighbridge system and associated automated charging system
* Central control panel & back up generator
* CCTV system
* SCADA system
As with all landfill sites, the site is a substantial size but with the level of automation offered by the new system, the operator can control and monitor everything from the central office an the site does not need to be manned all of the time.
Overall, the Powerstown landfill site is one of the most modern and sophisticated around.
