Colloide Engineering Systems have recently completed their move to a carbon free office and workshop; with the move to Biomass heating and Solar PV panel installations.
The Biomass system (or Wood Pellet Boiler) will reduce our heating bills by up to 80% against oil. They are an economical way of heating with efficiency in excess of 90%. The boiler is a fully modulating boiler which burns wood pellets. The pellets are normally delivered in bulk and blown in to the pellet store, they are then transferred by an auger to the boiler.
The boiler operates on a time clock just the same as an oil or gas boiler, so you do not need to do anything more than you do with oil or gas with the exception of emptying the ash pan every 4 – 5 weeks, although de-ashing is available on all our boilers at an additional cost.

PV Solar Panels
Colloide Engineering, has installed a 50kWp solar array at its head office in Cookstown, Co Tyrone.
The 210 module-strong array sits across the company’s factory roof in grids of 70. The solar array has already had a significant impact for the company with the Colloide Engineering workshop and offices now running entirely on renewable energy.
Paddy McGuinness, Colloide’s General Manager said: “Colloide is dedicated to being a sustainable business and installing solar PV panels is one of our many green initiatives. In just four weeks the panels have produced 4,890kw of energy. We will continue to monitor the performance of the panels and then hope to fit more in the next six months to produce a further 200kw on the existing roofs.”
